The studio

One person
making things.

Most Awesome Apps started in 1987 when I kept building little tools for myself and noticing nobody else had made them.

It's a tiny independent studio — no funding, no board, no venture pressure. Just me, deciding what to spend my days on, and a bear called Dinklebee who keeps me company while I work.

My apps are small on purpose. They do one thing well and stop. I think most software has gotten heavier and chattier and more demanding than it needs to be, and I'd like to make some that isn't.

I answer my own support emails. I update slowly. I say "no" a lot. I hope that's enough.

Design, engineering, everything

Been building software and internet products for a long time. Started Most Awesome Apps because the best tools are the ones you'd build for yourself. Does all of it — design, code, support, coffee.

Dinklebee

Studio bear · moral support

Sits on the desk. Doesn't write code but has strong opinions about spacing. Has never missed a ship date. The only team member who's never complained about a deadline.

What we believe

01

One thing well

Software should do one thing well and get out of the way. The good ones know what they aren't.

02

Quiet by default

No streaks, no notifications, no engagement metrics. Your tool should not be trying to grow.

03

Slow on purpose

We ship when it's right. We don't ship roadmaps. We don't apologize for not shipping a roadmap.

04

Pay for the work

Either the app is free because it costs us nothing, or you pay us. No ads, no data, no third option.

05

Real support

Email goes to one real person. Usually replies same day. Always within a week.

06

Stop when done

When an app is done, it's done. We won't add features to justify the subscription.

Say hello

It's just me, and I read every email.
